As a child growing up in Ireland, St. Patrick’s day was always a very special day. We had the day off from school as it was a national holiday, and also, I got to celebrate my birthday. For many years, I actually thought March 17th was my birthday until my Mum informed me it was March 12th. Then, of course, my name is Patricia…so yes, St Patrick was my favourite Saint!

Naturally, now that I am all grown up (says who?) my devotion to St. Patrick has continued. I recall walking up to church on the day — bright spring sunshine and the sight of daffodils everywhere. In church, all the children would wear their special St. Patrick’s day badges with pride, and we would sing:

‘Hail Glorious Saint Patrick, dear saint of our Isle;
On us thy poor children, bestow a sweet smile.
And now thou art high in the mansions above
On Erin’s green valleys, look down in thy love’.

Then it was home and party time!! As you can see from my photos this year, I have continued with the St Patrick’s day celebrations. Hope you had fun!!

Hugs,
Patricia xxx
