Pennies from Heaven

Every time I went home to Ireland on holidays I had a little ritual whereby I would pick up pennies I’d find on the street and put them in a jar. Some days I even found the odd euro. My dad got a great kick from this and each day would ask me “How much did you find today Pat?” and we’d count the pennies together. Before returning to Canada, I would empty the jar and put the money in the poor box in the church.

Now every time I find myself thinking about my father — guess what happens? Yeps, I find money on the street! Shortly after his death when I was thinking about him, I found a spanking new $50 note on the ground in a mall — nice! I was with my daughter Claudia whose immediate reaction, like mine, was “That was from Kenny!” Another day when I was driving, I was thinking about him a lot. Suddenly, I looked out my window and saw a $5 bill blowing in the wind — I kid you not!! Fortunately, there was nobody behind me, so I stopped the car and got out and picked up the $5 which had landed on the ground.

Imagine my delight last Wednesday on his birthday, when a similar incident happened. I was thinking about him endlessly that day. I asked him to show me a sign that he was doing all right. That evening I went out for a long walk and lo and behold, guess what I found on the street? Yeps, a brand new $10 bill waiting for me! I did a happy dance on the street and people nearly crashed their cars looking at me!!

Co-incidence or what?

”Those we love don’t go away, they walk beside us every day. Unseen, unheard, but always near…”

Loving hugs,
